A graphic novel of the Marshall Islands

Solomon Enos has been working on a graphic novel of the Marshall Islands which will be published on the MAP site soon.

I’m hoping to make a big noise, to send stories around the world. Because right here, this island, this is the story.  This is what we need the kids around the world to realise. Turn off the video game, walk outside. This is the real game. This is the real world. This is the story. We cannot waste this movie. There’s a better movie than this one. There’s a movie where everybody is OK. Every island is OK. We’ve just gotta work on it.

I wrote last night, and the poem that came out was about a mejenkwar. But instead of the mejenkwar eating the kids, she eats their fears, eats the bullies, eats all the things that are affecting them. And stretches her neck around the island to watch over all these kids. She’s a demon that is bloodthirsty enough to fight for these kids.
